About Me

"Do more than belong: participate. Do more than care: help. Do more than believe: practice. Do more than be fair: be kind. Do more than forgive: forget. Do more than dream: work."
- William Arthur Ward

My parents have always taught me to BELIEVE, to LEARN and to DO.  When they immigrated to the United States from the Philippines in the 1960's, they did not have much of anything.  They had very little money, very few friends, and limited knowledge regarding how to succeed in America.  However, they had each other and they had an unwavering belief that this was the place where they could create a better life for themselves and the family they wanted to build together.  After years of believing, learning, and working hard, they may not have "made it big", but they are certainly successful beyond measure.  Because of them, I know the great value of family, the importance of community service and the richness that meaningful relationships bring to a person's life.
I grew up in San Ysidro and did not travel anywhere east of California until I went to college at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.  I graduated with a BS in Chemistry and was commissioned as an officer in the US Navy in 1999.  I served in the military for 5 years and became involved in education when searching for a school for my daughter.  It was then that I learned about and fell in love with the Montessori philosophy and have taught students K-6 and prospective Montessori teachers for about 7 years.
I am married to my best friend who is currently a LCDR in the US Navy.  We are blessed with two children who are kind, funny, athletic and studious.  Our daughter is 11 years old and our son is 9 years old.
I enjoy reading, playing board games with family and friends, and screaming my head off at my children's sporting events.  I love to learn and I absolutely love to laugh.  I am grateful for the opportunity to be a graduate student at the University of San Diego and I have met so many wonderful classmates and professors who inspire and amaze me with their knowledge, experience, and energy.  This is one fast-paced, crazy, busy, action-packed ride . . . and I'm loving every minute of it.
